According to the US Army, "military law is part of military just and the administration of the Uniform Code of Military Justice." Furthermore, the purpose of military justice, as part of military law, is to "promote justice, to asist in maintaining good order and discipline in the armed forces, to promote efficiency and effectiveness in the military establishment, and thereby to strengthn the. direct and effect the transfer of records of a Federal agency determined by the Archivist to have sufficient historical or other value to warrant their continued preservation by the United States Government to the National Archives of the United States, as soon as practicable, and at a time mutually agreed upon by the Archivist and the head of that Federal agency not later than thirty years.
